GÉRALD CHARLES WATCHES – Models with Technical Specifications, Price, Brand Details, History, News and Archives
Gerald Charles Maestro GC2.0-RG Ultra-Thin and Maestro GC3.0-RG Chronograph
Maison Gerald Charles presents two new 18-carat rose gold Maestro models, the GC2.0-RG Ultra-Thin and GC3.0-RG Chronograph. These sporty-elegant wristwatches feature royal blue sunburst dial, and vulcanised rubber strap for the first time.
Sophisticated and casually elegant, the two new Gerald Charles watch models are powered by exclusive automatic mechanical calibres developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. They feature the Maison’s beautiful new hexagonal-shaped oscillating weight, designed by the world-renowned watch designer Mr.Octavio Garcia.
The Gerald Charles Maestro GC2.0-RG Ultra-Thin houses the highly sophisticated Calibre Ref. GCA3002 Manufacture, a 3.7 mm thick automatic that delivers time and date functions, elevated levels of accuracy and vibration and shock resistance, and a twin-barrelled 50-hour power reserve. It has a high-grade, bi-directional oscillating weight set on a low-friction ceramic ball bearing system.
The Gerald Charles Maestro GC3.0-RG Chronograph is equipped with the Calibre Ref. GCA3022/12 Manufacture, an automatic chronograph movement based on the GCA3002. It also offers remarkable thinness, with a profile of just 6.07 mm, including its bi-directional oscillating weight, and a twin-barrelled 50-hour power reserve.
The contemporary watch designer Mr. Garcia’s beautiful hexagonal-shaped oscillating weight appeared for the first time in the micro-rotor of the Maestro 8.0 Squelette. Introduced in May this year, this exclusive rotor is now being integrated into all new Gerald Charles watches.
Mr. Garcia designed and developed it in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, using Gerald Charles founder Monsieur Genta’s style and passion for geometric shapes as his inspiration.
As with Monsieur Genta’s iconic Maestro case, the shape of Mr Garcia’s oscillating weight is also inspired by Roman Baroque architecture.
Both the GC2.0-RG Ultra-Thin and GC3.0-RG Chronograph have sapphire crystal case backs and are set on vulcanised rubber straps decorated with the Maison’s signature Clous de Paris motif on the top side, and with Gerald Charles’s logo tapisserie on the other. As with all Gerald Charles watches, they’re water-resistant to 100 metres.

Gerald Charles Maestro Steel Models: Automatic (ref. GC2.0-A) and Automatic Chronograph (ref. GC3.0-A)
Following the successful release of the Maestro Premier 2021 Editions earlier this spring, Swiss luxury watch brand Gerald Charles presents four new references of the Gérald Genta-designed ultra-thin and chronograph sports watch into its continuous collection.
The new Gerald Charles Maestro GC2.0-A Automatic and Maestro GC3.0-A Chronograph watches have stainless steel cases.
Both timepieces are available with either a black or emerald green palette. While neither will be a limited-edition, they will be limited in annual production in keeping with the company’s watch creation philosophy.
As well as being an ultra-thin, lightweight watch that both men and women can wear elegantly on the wrist across codes and styles, the 39mm Maestro is designed to be a high-performing sports watch.
The GC2.0-A Automatic weighs just 85 grams, and the GC3.0-A Chronograph 110 grams, and yet both are water-resistant to 100 metres and have advanced levels of shock resistance, too.
To test the performance of the new Maestro references, Gerald Charles friend of the brand and record-breaking Italian Olympic swimming champion Luca Dotto took them to Y-40® The Deep Joy, the 42.15-metre deep pool in Italy’s Padua that in 2014 became the world’s deepest indoor pool.
To deliver this seamless balance between performance and wearability, Gerald Charles’ engineers brought forward the advanced geometries of the Maestro Premier Edition 2021 case. The new models share the bespoke gasket design first seen in those references. This gasket seals the irregular-shaped case and sapphire crystal, ensuring the watch can withstand the pressures experienced at depth.
The four new references continue the story of the next-generation Maestro, first signalled by the Premier 2021 Editions, and become Gerald Charles’s continuous collection pieces. But most of all, they continue the story of the greatest watch designer of the 20th century, Monsieur Genta, whose designs combined artistic creativity with the technical mastery of fine Swiss watchmaking. Gerald Charles takes great pride in paying tribute to his genius and unparalleled creative vision, and to the majesty of the Maestro design, created at Monsieur Genta’s hand in 2006.
Compared to previous generations, the GC3.0-A Chronograph has raised flanks that give the watch its squarer, more octagonal appearance, and extended, rounded lugs that deliver improved ergonomics. As before, it integrates irregular-shaped pushers that follow the contours of the case flank, protecting and even enhancing the Maestro’s signature silhouette. The GC2.0-A Automatic shares similar geometry, only with a rounder feel.
Whether in timeless black or sparkling emerald green, the steel GC2.0-A Automatic and GC3.0-A Chronograph watches convey casual charm and sophistication in keeping with the artistic vision set out by Monsieur Genta.
The sunburst-finished dials dance in the light, while the Clous de Paris-motif vulcanised rubber straps cast enigmatic shadows across the wrist.
The two new models are powered by specially enhanced, hand-finished Vaucher movements that have been customised exclusively for Gerald Charles and that were first used in the Maestro Premier 2021 Editions.
Each of the new watches has a sapphire crystal case back showcasing these beautiful mechanical movements.
The GC2.0-A Automatic houses the highly sophisticated Calibre Ref. GCA3002, a 3.7mm thick automatic that delivers time and date functions, elevated levels of accuracy and vibration and shock resistance, and a twin-barrelled 50-hour power reserve. It has a high-grade bi-directional rotating rotor set on a low-friction ceramic ball bearing system.

For the GC3.0-A Chronograph, Gerald Charles returned to the Calibre Ref. GCA3022/12, an automatic chronograph movement based on the GCA3002. It too offers remarkable thinness, measuring just 6.07mm in height, including its bi-directional rotating oscillating weight, and also offers a twin-barrelled 50-hour power reserve.

Gerald Charles Maestro 3.0 Chronograph Premier 2021 Edition
In March 2021, independent Swiss brand Gerald Charles introduced the second, and final, Maestro Premier 2021 Edition. The Maestro 3.0 Chronograph Premier 2021 Edition, Ref. GC3.0-RG-02, is an exclusive design limited to just 25 pieces.
Equipped with an exquisite Swiss Made ultra-thin automatic chronograph calibre, this timepiece blends artistic creativity with the finest watchmaking traditions. And as with the Maestro 2.0 Premier 2021 Edition, released earlier this year, this unique design will never be repeated.
For the Maestro 3.0 Chronograph Premier 2021 Edition, Gerald Charles has once more revisited the iconic Maestro case, originally designed by the Maison’s founder Monsieur Gérald Genta in 2006. Measuring 39mm in diameter and 41.7mm in height, and produced from 10 solid blocks of 18-carat rose gold, the case has been remastered especially for this watch.
Gerald Charles engineers softened the raised flanks to give the watch a squarer, more octagonal appearance, and extending and rounding the lugs to ensure this sophisticated mechanical watch sits comfortably on the wrist. They also integrated irregular-shaped chronograph pushers and a screw-down crown, secondary details that make a telling contribution to the watch’s elegant silhouette.
The Maestro 3.0 Chronograph Premier 2021 Edition is a versatile sports watch. Measuring just 11.5mm in depth, it is a slimline automatic chronograph and yet water-resistant to 100 metres. For this timepiece, Gerald Charles developed a bespoke gasket to seal the irregular-shaped sapphire crystal and ensure the watch could withstand the pressures experienced at depth.
The beautifully hand-finished Calibre Ref. GCA3022/12 is based on Gerald Charles Calibre GCA3002, an automatic movement created by Vaucher and customised in partnership with Gerald Charles for the Maestro 2.0 Premier Edition 2021. It has a thickness of only 6.07mm, including its solid 18-carat gold, bi-directional rotating oscillating weight. The movement, which has a power reserve of 50 hours, can be seen through the case back’s sapphire crystal, alongside the engraving ‘Premier 2021’.
For the Premier 2021 Editions, Gerald Charles’s designers chose to pair warm 18-carat rose gold with a magical emerald green, a combination created exclusively for this unique series of two watches.
The dial has a sunburst finish, while the durable, flexible strap, produced in sporty vulcanised rubber and decorated with a Clous de Paris motif originally designed by Monsieur Genta, is also emerald green. Perfecting and matching the dial and strap colours required intensive development.

Gerald Charles Maestro 2.0 Premier 2021 Edition
With this new timepiece, Swiss luxury watchmaker Gerald Charles SA has opened a new chapter in the story of Maestro, an original design created by Monsieur Gérald Charles Genta, who founded the company in 2000.
Limited to 25 numbered pieces, the new Maestro 2.0 Premier 2021 Edition is a special creation from the independent Swiss watch company. This timepiece boasts an ultra-thin 18-carat rose gold case and emerald green dial and strap.
Each piece in the run will be defined by engravings on the case back showing the limited-edition number and the words ‘Premier 2021’. While there will be future rose-gold Maestro designs, no version of this watch will ever be quite the same, hence the Premier 2021 Edition designation.
The outstanding Maestro case is inspired by a 17th century monument in Rome built by the Italian architect Francesco Borromini. It is defined by its irregular shape and the ‘smile’ at 6 o’clock, a reflection of the concavity of the monument’s façade.
The Maestro 2.0 case has been subtly, but significantly updated to push elegance to its limits. The overall form, which is forged out of eight pieces of solid 18-carat rose gold, has been slimmed down to 8.7mm, a reduction of 3mm compared to the standard Maestro collection pieces. The iconic smile is now broader, too.
To create an ultra-thin profile, the flange around the edge of the dial has been reduced, which has the added benefit of drawing the eye deeper into the dial. The lugs have also been redesigned so the case back and strap sit in line with one another, creating a seamless profile that makes the watch sit flatter on the wrist.
These carefully considered details further enhance the Maestro’s ergonomics and its status as a sophisticated, versatile sports watch, while the words ‘Premier 2021’ on the sapphire crystal identify this exclusive limited-edition watch.
Delivering 100 metres of water resistance in an ultra-thin gold watch with an irregular-shaped crystal was a technical challenge. Through a process of research and development, Gerald Charles technicians and engineers developed a bespoke system that ensured equal pressure around the edge of the sapphire crystal and 100 metres of water resistance. A screw-down 18-carat rose gold crown, with a Clous de Paris finish, further protects the watch.
For this slim luxury sports watch, Gerald Charles has opted for a specially customized self-winding movement from the high-end Swiss movement specialists Vaucher.
At just 3.7mm thick and finished according to the independent brand’s exacting standards in hand-finishing, the Calibre Ref. GCA3002 is a highly sophisticated ultra-thin automatic movement that showcases the best of Swiss fine watchmaking.
Gerald Charles’s watchmakers worked with Vaucher to maximise the movement’s accuracy and 50-hour power reserve, and to improve vibration and shock resistance.
The movement, which has a bi-directional rotating 18-carat rose-gold rotor set on a low-friction ceramic ball bearing system, provides the watch with hour, minute and sweep central seconds hands, and a date function, seen through a window carefully positioned above the 6 o’clock hour marker. This highly sophisticated Swiss Made automatic movement can be through the sapphire crystal case back of the watch.
The Maestro 2.0 Premier 2021 Edition watch features an emerald green sunburst dial developed exclusively for the watch.
Perfectly harmonizing the dial color, the emerald green vulcanised rubber strap of this watch is finished with a Clous de Paris decoration on the top side, from an original design by Monsieur Genta, and with Gerald Charles logo tapisserie on the reverse.

Gerald Charles Maestro Anniversary Collection
The Swiss luxury watch brand Gerald Charles was founded by the legendary watch designer and artist, Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta (1931-2011). In 2020, the prestigious Maison of Haute Horlogerie celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exclusive watch manufactured in a limited edition of 252 pieces.
Each individual watch carries a unique month-year combination engraved, starting from January 2000 and ending with December 2020, for a total of 252 months of brand existence. Each piece represents a unicum, thanks to the distinctive feature that separates it from the other limited-edition watches: the date.
This anniversary watch is born from the harmonious coexistence of past and future. The iconic Maestro case, an original design by Monsieur Genta, the same designer of the Royal Oak and Nautilus, is an exclusive design for the Maison Gerald Charles.
The original case is enriched by the perfect combination of new materials and classic components, as it represents the highest expression of Maison’s horological paradigms. For the first time, in fact, the case is forged in stainless steel, whereas until now every watch from the Maestro collection was made of precious metals. Moreover, a sporty rubber strap will be mounted on a Maestro case, until now only available with leather straps.
The creation of the Anniversary watch stems from the desire to create a hard-wearing item and, for the first time, waterproof, with 100 meters of water resistance, being at the same time elegant, emblematic and simple to wear on any occasion. Like the case, the strap also comes from an original design by Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta, with a “Pharaonic” fantasy inspired by the pyramids of Egypt. The result is a watch that stands out with a shape that is both elegant and sporty, two recurrent concepts in the Maestro’s greatest watchmaking creations, since he designed the first Royal Oak in the 70s.
The choice of the movement, which uses the big date as complication, was the result of careful study and in-depth research conducted by the technical bureau of Gerald Charles.
The choice of the number 252 stems from the desire to make each watch unique and eternal, to celebrate together every month of the Maison since 2000, the year the brand was founded, until today. Gerald Charles gives collectors the opportunity to choose their most significant date if available, in the last 20 years; with the guarantee that once selected, he will be the only owner.
The brand, which has always aimed to satisfy high standards of beauty and preciousness in its creations, now wishes to fortify its values of uniqueness, pursuit of artistic balance, exclusivity and attention to detail. It is the first time that the Maison create an exclusive collection to celebrate a very special occasion: its first 20 years.
The watches may be purchased directly on the company website or from official retailers. On special request, Gerald Charles is also offering two gem-set versions of the Maestro Anniversary watch. The diamond set editions are available in Demí-Pavé (with 136 brilliant cut diamonds on the watch bezel) and Full-Pavé (with 373 brilliant cut diamonds) variants.

GERALD CHARLES WATCHES
Gerald Charles is a prestigious Maison of Swiss watchmaking, founded in the year 2000 by Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta (1931-2011), world renowned watch designer and artist.
At the beginning of the 2000s, Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta, having dedicated a short period of his life exclusively to the art of painting, decided to return to the field of watch design, founding the eponymous Maison Gerald Charles.
The choice of giving his name to the brand symbolises his desire to create a unique bond with his own production. The sinuous lines and the harmony of singular shapes, that the artist has managed to make iconic in each of his creations, are very recognisable in Gerald Charles watches. These masterpieces are born from the union between artistic creativity and technical mastery of Swiss mechanics, synonymous with excellence.
In 2020, on the twentieth anniversary of its foundation, the brand introduced a special anniversary limited edition watch developed from Monsieur Genta’s original designs for the Maison Gerald Charles.
Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta (1931-2011)
Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta was born in Geneva in 1931. From a young age his interest was piqued by artistic disciplines, namely painting and sculpture. At the end of his teenage years, he came into contact with the world of high-end jewellery, where he discovered the design that was soon to become his great passion. Monsieur Genta is deemed the most famous watch designer in the world.
At the young age of 23, he created his first wrist masterpiece, the Polerouter for Maison Universal Geneva. His most famous creations include the Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet in 1972, the Nautilus for Patek Philippe in 1976, the Bulgari Bulgari and Bulgari Roma for Bulgari in the early eighties. Not to be forgotten is his fundamental contribution in redesigning Cartier’s Pasha, IWC’s Ingenieur, the Golden Ellipse for Patek Philippe and various models for Omega.
In 1969, Monsieur Genta decided to create his first brand: “Gerald Genta”. This brand was sold in the late nineties and integrated later into the Bulgari portfolio. In the early 2000s Monsieur Genta, at the height of his success, founded the most modern and audacious of his brands: “Gerald Charles”.
For the Maison Gerald Charles, the famous designer created some of the most modern of his watches, amongst them the “Maestro” collection is one of his highest achievements. An asymmetric watch case, unique of its kind, was never seen before and represents a radical innovation from everything else until now. Being ahead of their time and stay iconic forever are qualities common to Gerald’s watches.
